Trinidad & Tobago Humanitarian Customs Regulations

This document was submitted in response to a questionnaire distributed by Global Hand regarding humanitarian customs information. It provides regulations for importing humanitarian aid into Trinidad Tobago.

  • bill of lading/airway bill
  • commercial invoice
  • packing list
  • fumigation certificate
  • deed of donation
  • certificate of origin

Prohibited Goods

There are no specified goods. However, such goods which are dangerous to health, safety and security may not be permitted entry into the country.

Tax Exemption

This is offered on humanitarian cargo on a case by case basis, and applies to all goods, but is not granted to those organisations which are not registered.

Monetary Valuation

Customs require monetary valuation for the shipment on an individual item basis, with a preference for U.S. currency.

Restrictions

Restrictions on some second hand goods and limitations regarding expiry dates are enforced. Contact the Customs&Excise Division, Govt. of Trinidad and Tobago for information on specific items.

Other Info

Tax exemption should be obtained prior to shipment in order to facilitate quick clearance upon arrival.
