Sir Thomas Abney Primary School is a mixed community school of non-denominational religion located in Hackney, London. Sir Thomas Abney School initiated a community/environmental project aimed at increasing cycling amongst pupils, their parents and teachers. Training classes have been organised with parents and teachers encouraged to take part, and the number of people cycling to school has increased substantially. The school’s programme has started to be implemented by other primary schools in the area as well.
