Action for Empowerment (AOET) is an American non-governmental organisation (NGO) with offices in Uganda, Kenya and Zambia. AOET provides formal and vocational education to street orphans whose parents have died of AIDS and places these orphans into foster families. It also provides scholarships and the necessary supplies for children to attend school. Additionally, AOET has developed empowerment programmes for widows whose husbands died of AIDS. The programmes provide training in tailoring, African arts and crafts, computers, driving and HIV/AIDS, as well as start-up equipment and funds for women to start small businesses. AOET also supports singing groups, a song and dance group of children and a group of young adults.
