HelpAge India
Unverified non-profit organisation
HelpAge India is secular, non-profit organization set up in 1978, which aims to raise resources to protect the rights of India’s elderly and provide relief to them through various interventions.
HelpAge India voices the needs of India’s 90 million “grey” population, and directly impacts the lives of lakhs of elders through its services.
HelpAge India works with national & local government to bring about policy that is beneficial to the elderly and strives to raise awareness about the concerns of the aged and promote better understanding of ageing issues.
HelpAge India helps the elderly become aware of their own rights so that are able to play an active role in society.
Over the years, HelpAge India has changed its orientation from implementing welfare projects to those that focus on development. HelpAge India is one of the founding members of HelpAge International, a body of 51 member countries representing the cause of the elderly at the United Nations. It has received a special testimonial from the United Nations for “dedicated service in support of the United Nations Programme on Ageing.”
