UNAIDS is the joint United Nations programme on HIV/AIDS bringing together the efforts and resources of 10 UN systems to the global AIDS response. Established in 1994, UNAIDS now works in 75 countries worldwide with governments and civil society to prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS, to care for those already infected, and to mitigate the effects of the epidemic.
