United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is one of United Nation organisations that has targets for reducing poverty, hunger, disease, illiteracy, environmental degradation and discrimination against women by 2015. UNDP first established its office in Nepal in 1963 to support the Nepalese in their struggle against poverty. Consistent with UNDP’s mandate, the Country Cooperation Framework for Nepal focussed on 4 programme areas: Decentralized Governance for Participatory Development, Poverty Alleviation and Sustainable Livelihoods, Advancement of Women and Managing Natural Resources.
