The British Red Cross is a member of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, a humanitarian organisation, providing assistance without discrimination as to nationality, race, religious beliefs, class or political opinions. It is part of a global voluntary network, responding to conflicts, natural disasters and individual emergencies. It provides help to people in crisis in the UK and abroad, enabling people to prepare for and withstand emergencies. When the crisis is over, it helps people to recover and move on with their lives. Established in 1870, it also provides services, including assistance to refugees, asylum seekers and those in crisis, with partners and projects in every continent.
