The Aga Khan Foundation (AKF) is a private, not-for-profit international development agency. The organization works towards the vision of an economically dynamic, politically stable, intellectually vibrant, and culturally tolerant Tajikistan. Through its programmes in Tajikistan, the foundation is helping to promote the cultural history and traditions, to facilitate the development of micro and small enterprises, to ensure the country’s food security and farmers’ livelihoods, and to meet the essential infrastructure needs. The foundation contributes volunteer time, professional services and substantial financial resources focusing its programmes toward rural development, micro-finance, health, education, disaster management, village reconstruction, and civil society.
