The Department for International Development (DFID) is the part of the UK Government that manages Britain’s aid to developing countries. DFID’s main aim in South East Asia is to improve the collective efforts of donors and governments to reduce poverty in the poorest countries of the region, focusing on Vietnam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, East Timor and Burma. DFID has offices in Bangkok, where the Head of DFIDSEA is based, and in Hanoi,Jakarta, Phnom Penh and Colombo. The South East Asia office works in partnership with governments, civil society, the private sector and multinational institutions to achieve the UN Millennium Development goals.
