The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is the United Nations’ global development network, advocating for change and connecting countries to knowledge, experience and resources to help people to build a better life.
The UNDP began its operations in El Salvador in 1975, and has since mobilized its resources for national development and reconstruction during the peace process and in emergency situations such as those caused by Hurricane Mitch in 1998, earthquakes of 2001 and Hurricane Stan, to name a few. It’s primary services in the country include provision of humanitarian assistance for disaster response, programmes for poverty-reduction, sustainable agriculture, and conflict prevention.
