Peace Brigades International is a non-governmental organisation (NGO) which protects human rights and promotes non-violent transformation of conflicts. Their volunteers, supported by donations, work in providing protective accompaniment to human rights defenders, peace education (training in non-violence, conflict transformation and human rights), documenting conflicts and peace initiatives and distributing this information world-wide. They organize trainings and speaking tours, support project volunteers and provide an important part of PBI’s international Emergency Response Network (ERN). When invited, they send teams of volunteers into areas of repression and conflict. Their work is to create space for local activists to work for social justice and human rights.
