Catholic Relief Services was founded in 1943 by the Catholic Bishops of the United States to assist the poor and disadvantaged outside the country. The aim of CRS globally and in Russia is to provide direct aid to the poor and disadvantaged people, to involve people in their own development, helping them to realise their potential, to promote the social justice and remove root causes of poverty, to provide relief in emergency situations and to help people in the developing world break the cycle of poverty through community based, sustainable development initiatives.
