The RUGMARK organisation provides a certification trademark, which assures importers and buyers that their products (carpets) have been manufactured/exported by a company which has committed itself to work without illegal child labour, and which is subject to an effective surveillance mechanism. The company works in co-operation with other non-profit organisations as well as government agencies, including UNICEF, to identify centres where illegal child labour activities occur and implement regulations and guidelines that serve as prevention mechanisms. RUGMARK encourages co-operation among different establishments and seeks to promote dialogue with other Indian organisations that will improve the situation and prevent new cases of child exploitation and other child-labour violations.
