Kitara Community Development Initiative (KCD initiative) is a Community Based not for profit, non-Governmental Organization (CBO) group effort.

Registered with Masindi District Local Government with a Certificate and Registration No: CBS/00587/15. The head office is in Masindi Municipality, Nyangahya Division at Family spirit Premises.
The organizations registered offices are located in – Masindi District and operates in the entire area of Bunyoro Kitara – (Kiryandongo, Masindi, Buliisa, Hoima and Kibaale Districts) Mid-Western Region of Uganda.

Vision: A peaceful cultural and traditionally harmonized Bunyoro Community where peoples of different nationalities respect each-others cultural norms, traditions and co-exist harmoniously.

Objectives:
• Mobilize families and households to improve their livelihoods for improved yields through improving on the traditional farming methods and seeds, to enhance household incomes through community mobilization, awareness / sensitization and community capacity building.
• To lobby and advocate for environmental conservation initiatives, empowering the communities neighboring the existing forests of mainly Budongo and Bugoma to sustainably access, own, manage and conserve bio-diversity as a means to improve social-economic benefits.
• To promote and uphold Bunyoro Kitara’s traditional cultural values, norms and activities based on the historical background and heritage, advocate for conflict resolution and lobby for positive inter cultural co-existence to promote equitable change for peace and unity.

Major Activities:

1. Involved in mobilizing the youth, women, PLWD/orphans, the elderly, early child/single mothers in groups / clubs to enable them embrace culture, education and community – economic empowerment; interventions that are in line with the government’s development programs of youth , women etc.

2. The Scholarship Fund: Students at Jordan pride education center – Masindi. By end of 2015 the fund had supported 8 students in secondary at Jordan pride education center and 21 in Kaborogota and Kigulya miracle centre primary schools in Masindi District.

3. Community policing: The project is aimed at reducing cases of domestic/public violence, child abuse and early child mothers, road use and accidents, education and skills development among others.

4. The Elderly and vulnerable children program. Kitara community Development Initiative is glad to have extended her social services and support towards the Inmates of Ihungu children remand home by giving out chrismas gifts to those vulnerable children. Some elderly persons in Masindi District were also reached out to enable them celebrate Christmas of 2015 with the rest of the world.

5. Mushroom growing project : The Organization formed 30 members of mushroom growing group at Kigulya in June 2016 with an enrolment composed of the youth, women and men for the production of both seed and mushrooms under operation wealth creation program.
