The United Nations Youth Ghana was officially Registered in Ghana on the 3rd of March 2016 through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, under the companies ACT, 1963, ACT 179.
UN Youth Ghana now works with street and vulnerable children / youth found in the poorest areas of Ghana, i.e. the Northern, Upper East and Upper West Regions. Available statistics indicate that 9, 8 and 7 out of every ten people are below the poverty line in the Upper East, Upper West and Northern Regions respectively. The charity’s vision is of a Ghana without street children, where every child can live a life of dignity and self-worth.
UN Youth Ghana is currently supporting street and Vulnerable Children in school at various levels including university, training college, senior high school, junior high school, and primary school. Additionally they are supporting street youth (mostly teenagers 15–19 years) to learn trades of their choice, e.g. carpentry, auto fitting, welding, straightening and spraying, dressmaking, hairdressing, local cloth (northern kente) weaving, sign writing, electrical engineering, etc.
UN Youth Ghana seeks funding from both the governments, Philantropists, individuals and foundations.
The UNY Organization employs methodologies that range from identifying the problem, dealing with it and providing sustainable solutions. This is often done with the aid of participatory (inclusive) and demonstrative (audio-visual) methods.
FUTURE PLAN, VISIONS & PROPOSED PROJECTS:
1. To build a first Center of Innovations & Explorations for the Youth, where young People, talented, creative and very innovative youth groups, could join heads and innovate, making good use of raw materials
2. Building a Fun Center and Amusement Park to help promote exchange programs & Tourism, Arts and Cross culture opportunities needed Peace platforms.
3. Planning to Build hospitals for Youth in the Rural communities and villages where there is a need, and those areas where health issues becomes the major problems faced by the Vulnerable Children and the Youth.
4. To supply and Provide enough Computers, Books, School Uniforms and Laptops to Educational Centers in the Rural Volta and Northern Regions Sectors of Ghana
5. Provide Water, Sanitation and Food securities to the Orphanages and Homes in this Vulnerable Areas.
6. working with other Foundations and Organizations in raising enough funds and collaboration to support the various Department of Entrepreneurship & Skills Training.
7. To support more than Five Thousands Brilliant but vulnerable Youth in Education, in Vocational, Technical and Training Institutions.
8. And most importantly Give grants to the youth in irrigation Farming and Agriculture, to promote Enough Food Security for Africa.
